Generic TLDs are TLDs that are open to everyone (some are restricted) and are not tied to any particular country.
Examples are:
[edit] ccTLDs
Country Code TLDs are TLDs that are given to a particular country. That country will decide how they control the TLD and may restrict the domain or leave it open for all to register. Some popular ccTLDs are:
[edit] Unrestricted
An unrestricted TLD is open to pretty much everyone and everything (within reason!)
Some popular ccTLDs that aren't restricted:
- .co.uk
- .je
- .gg
- .im
- .it - contract needs to be signed. Date of birth and social security number required
- .es (Spain)
- .be (Belgium)
- .co.za (South Africa)
[edit] Restricted
Some ccTLDs have very specific rules. In order to register a domain name you need to follow the rules carefully
[edit] Domain Disputes
Each domain registry chooses how to manage disputes.
Blacknight cannot and will not be involved with disputes between 3rd parties
